Gerald Green initially studied as an architect, becoming Vice President of the Society of Architectural Illustrators in 1992. He began exhibiting his paintings in 1978 and has held numerous personal and mixed shows in the UK and overseas. Society exhibitions include Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours, Royal Institute of Oil Painters, Pastel Society, Britain's Painters, and The Society of Graphic Artists. 2004 "Not the Turner Prize" finalist, 1999 Sunday Times Waltercolour Exhibition finalist, and he was a UK invited artist for the 2010 International Watercolour Biennial in Shanghai.
Since 1998 he has served as a visiting lecturer and taught at various art colleges and universities including Swansea Institute of Art and Design, Wrexham College of Art, and Luton University. He has been a regular contributor to art magazines, has appeared on TV and radio and is featured in 10 books including Art Class (2000), The Artist's Problem Solver (2001) and his own The Artist's Essential Guide to Watercolour (2008).
