Gordon studied at the Wimbledon School of Art and then spent 17 years in advertising and 28 years teaching at a college of art and design in London. He has exhibited 17 times at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, and been included in group exhibitions in various London and provincial galleries including Madden, Phoenix, New English, The National, RBA and Thompson's Gallery Aldeburgh.
Private collections in the UK and abroad. Listed in Who's Who in Art. Two paintings can be seen at the Chelmsford and Essex Museum. His main interest is landscapes and sea-scapes, particularly around his Sheering home and in Suffolk and France. He is drawn to a subject by atmosphere and design in the landscape and his fascination with skies.
