Sue Eaton is a founder member of The Stour Group - a few select artists - and exhibits throughout East Anglia. In 2007 she also helped form Stour Studios, to work and exhibit in The Old Engine Shed at Clare Country Park as part of Suffolk Open Studios.
The subjects Sue paints dictate the medium used: currently she is using acrylic wet-in-wet on textured covered canvas, or vibrant pastel on sandpaper, to create a loose depiction of London City and the seashores and woodlands around East Anglia. She is also paring down her brushstrokes to simplify the subject in a contemporary style.
For this exhibition, Sue has created paintings which show the contrast between the city and country.
"I like to show the light in my paintings. My city scapes are lit by neon and traffic lights. My tree and sea scapes show the light through the trees and on the water. Having my purpose-built studio in Suffolk this year I have the space to create larger canvases - the impact of one painting on a wall being greater than that of several."
